Backlura - Love

Love is the strongest of forces. It makes a constant claim on the striving of mankind. It is the ultimate goal of almost all effort, it has an unfavorable influence on the most important affairs, it interrupts, every hour, the most serious pursuits, and puzzles even the greatest thinkers. Therefore, no subject is as common to art as love. The artistic idea for this project is to depict all the colors of love - its pain, joy, longing and despair. The music reflects different cultures, genres and eras. There are standard songs from the American songbook, classic German pieces, French chansons and Mexican rancheras arranged for jazz trio, accordion and voice. It is music that illustrates that we all, regardless of our worldly form, our cultural affiliation, or our place in time and history, face the same fear and longing to love and be loved - the greatest of all is love.

This concert is arranged by Umeå Jazzstudio in collaboration with Umefolk. Admission is not included in the Umefolk house ticket but is sold separately.
