Wästerbottn Folkband is a group of young folk musicians from Västerbotten who meet four times a year in different places around the county. Together they delve into and explore folk music’s treasure chest, under the tutelage of Alva Granström, Elin Jonsson and Lovisa Berggren, all of whom are active musicians on the Swedish folk music scene as well as being educators specialised in folk music. The band was established in Spring 2023 and had its official premier at the Folk & World Music Gala at Sara Kulturhus in Skellefteå.
Wästerbottn Folkband is run through a collaboration between Föreningen Burträskkursen and the community music and culture schools in Lycksele, Skellefteå and Umeå, with support from Region Västerbotten, RUM and Kulturens.
