Workshop: Låtstuga med Sofia Högstadius

Workshop: Singing with Sofia Högstadius

Come and learn some favorite melodies and songs from Sofia's repertoire, mainly from Bulgaria and neighboring traditions.

Sofia is a violinist from Umeå who became interested in Bulgarian music during high school. At the age of 25, she moved to Bulgaria to study folk music and has since lived for several years in the country and learned the language, runs projects and is constantly on the lookout for new musical challenges from the Bulgarian repertoire.

Sofia is a trained violin teacher, works on the world music program at the University of Stage and Music in Gothenburg. As a freelance musician, she tours with the Scandi-Balkan folk-punk band Trio Katastrofa, the left-wing feminist swing collective Cats and Dinosaurs, and the Umeå pop band Winhill/Losehill.

You should have played your instrument and sung for several years and be quite used to learning by ear. Maybe it will also be time to learn a contra dance in some odd time signature! Warm welcome!

Saturday, February 25th, 15.00-16.30
